Cyprinocirrhites Polyactis
Hawkfish should be added to aquariums with plenty of rock work. Adult Cyprinocirrhites Hawkfish lack a swim bladder. Be sure to provide ample ledges, caves, cracks and crevices in order for them to perch and hide. Most Hawkfish are small, hardy and quite colorful making them a good addition to a home aquarium. All Hawkfish start life as a female with the largest most dominant fish becoming a male. Hawkfish are carnivores and will consume very small fish and other invertebrates. Feed a varied diet of meaty and algae-based foods multiple times daily. Cyprinocirrhites Hawkfish are somewhat feisty and will defend their territory, house one per aquarium. Cyprinocirrhites should be housed with tank mates that are not easily harassed.
The Lyretail Hawkfish shows an orange to brownish-orange hawkfish, often orange red to brownish blotches, and a strongly lunate caudal fin.
The Lyretail Hawkfish can grow up to 15cm in length.
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 200L or larger for this species.
