Dotalabrus Alleni
Alleni Wrasse should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of rock work with overhangs and caves. Alleni Wrasse will also need a deep sand bed. Wrasse are hermaphrodites meaning they start as juveniles/females but at some point in their life they may turn into a male. Wrasse are known to jump, an aquarium with a tight-fitting lid should be provided. Although Alleni Wrasse are considered peaceful they will pick at stony polyp corals, crustaceans, small marine fish and clam mantles. A diet of meaty foods should be provided to supplement Wrasse diets.
Juveniles and females show greenish yellow to dark green with five irregular black bars on the posterior sides, blue markings around the eye and a black spot or ocellus at the rear of the dorsal- and anal-fin bases. Males are reddish-yellow, gold or dark green with four black blotches in a broad yellow streak on the upper rear sides, torquoise markings radiating from the eyes and pale pelvic fins.
Alleni Wrasse can grow up to 8cm in length.
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 400L or larger for this species.
Due to variations within species and age of fish, your item may not look identical to the image provided.
